Adding your feeds to the system is very simple...just copy and paste the url for
your RSS feed into the control panel (see screenshot). In addition to adding
your feed you will also have a few other optional preferences you can set to
control various aspects of your content in syndication:
Hide/Unhide
each feed as required.
- Optionally strip out all HTML from your
feed. This is useful if you otherwise include some HTML formatting in your
feed which might make it more difficult for potential syndication partners
to format your feed to fit their own pages.
- Upload a logo file to brand your feed
in syndication. This is also an optional feature, which is great for
improving visibility and brand awareness. A different logo can be set for
each feed!
- Set the update frequency for each feed.
This controls how often FeedrollPro checks your news feed for updates...we
can check every 15mins or once a week...it is all up to you. And we do use a
conditional GET polling process, which simply means we only download your
feed if a change is detected (saving you bandwidth).
- Set the maximum number of characters to
be displayed for each item in your news feed. Combined with the automatic
stripping of all external links from your news feed, this is a useful way to
encourage click through to your site.
- You can syndicate up to 5 RSS news
feeds with a standard account. If you have got more than five feeds just
contact us to discuss a pro-rata subscription rate based on the number of
feeds.
The statistics provided by FeedrollPro really set us apart from
any other options. Here is a screen shot:
Track
the number of impressions for each of your
news feeds in syndication. You can view this
information at the domain level, aswell as
drilling down to see the specific pages for
each of those domains. For example, your
feed(s) may be syndicated across a dozen
different domains, and be displayed on any
number of pages on each of those sites.
FeedrollPro tracks this in detail.
- FeedrollPro also tracks
the number of clicks by domain (and page) for each feed.
Divide the clicks by impressions and you have a click
through ratio (CTR).
- After reviewing the
click though ratio for all your feeds you will want to know
exactly which headlines are attracting visitors to your
site. FeedrollPro helps with this because we track all the
clicks by item, so at a glance you can see what have been
the most popular items in syndication.
- FeedrollPro hosts the
bandwidth required for syndicating your news feed across an
unlimited number of web pages, so on the stats page you can
track how much bandwidth has been used.
- Please
note that this level of stats can only be
tracked using JavaScript. Choosing to
syndicate your news feed using the optional
PHP code is a trade off between stats and the
benefit of optimizing your syndicated news
feed for the search engines.
